GIRLS' NIGHT (OUT)..... Part 1 of 2

Kayce had come over to ride with her to Charlie Goodnight’s Comedy Club……. They were heading downtown to see the opening of a new act that had gotten great reviews in Chapel Hill. Kayce had driven over since they had decided to go in one car. Only made sense… it was about a 20 minute ride to downtown and parking was usually hard to find.

As they pulled into the parking lot, their excitement was increasing. It had been ages since there had been a girls’ night out… and they both needed a night with nothing but fun…… the work week had been stressful – Kayce was a stock broker and the market was a roller coaster - not what she had envisioned when she had joined a local firm as an up and coming star. And Amber, a rising young attorney, was swamped at work with bankruptcies. Oh God – would the economy ever get better!!! She was aching for all her clients who had to close their doors on companies that had been in the family for years. Both young women were desperately needing a night on the town to forget the past week…….. just forget and enjoy!

YEA! Tonight was about forgetting all the stress of the week and letting it all hang out….Charlie Goodnight’s was a fav yuppie oasis and had been known to be a springboard for local talent. Tickets were hard to come by but they had scored a pair from a friend who – poor guy – had come down with the flu.

As they entered the crowded bar, they both felt the tension of the week starting to leave them. They had agreed that no matter what, they would leave together. Neither were promiscuous, and neither had plans to ‘hook up’ this night. Immediately upon entering the club, they saw professional associates and casual acquaintenances - it was going to be a fun night.

A few drinks into the evening and both began to relax. Kayce was dancing as the band played great contemporary music, and Amber was enjoying a glass of wine and talking politics with several friends. And when the lights flashed, both found a seat as the curtain went up on the main event – a local comedian who was prone to roast the governor and the legislature and anyone else who had the misfortune to find their way into the News & Observer……… his act was bawdy and poignant – and the Friday crowd was greatly appreciative of his efforts…………. Kayce and Amber laughed until they were exhausted, and when the final curtain came down, both had forgotten the pressures of the week. A little after midnight, Amber asked Kayce if she was ready to leave, and the two agreed that it was time to hit the road…. It was a bit of a drive to Amber’s house, and then Kayce had to drive even further to her place. So out the door they headed.

As they left the building, they heard the thunder in the distance and after a quick glance at each other, they ran giggling to the car. Amber had only had a glass of wine, so she was okay to drive…….. Kayce flopped in the front seat, buckled up, and laid back, smiling and trying to relclosed her eyes. The night had been just what she needed! What they BOTH needed.

As Amber drove home, the weather became increasingly bad. Flashes of lightning lit the roadway, and trying not to close her eyes, she whispered, ‘let me get home.’ as she slowed her speed on the freeway, and looked through the rain for her exit. Kayce was quiet, lost in thought and letting Amber deal with the storm, and when Amber slowed the car and exited Kayce was relieved that they were almost at Amber’s house. At the top of the ramp, Amber turned left……. here traffic was non-existent this late at night. Amber lived out in the country – very rare for this area, which was growing rapidly and swallowing up rural areas.  As they followed the winding local road, the lightning increased, and the winds began to rock Amber’s SUV – and she slowed down just to be cautious.

Shortly she turned onto the secondary road that led to her house, and both breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that they were close to home and safety. And then, a loud BLAM filled their ears and then a ‘whap-whap-whap’ as the car swerved on the wet road and then headed for the ditch. Amber gripped the wheel………. knowing that this was NOT the time for a flat! As the car rolled to a stop, she steered it to the shoulder, laughing at the totally bad luck of a flat tire less than a mile from her house! Now what!

Amber looked to the right and Kayce was looking at her, laughing. Well shit! What an appropriate ending for a totally sucking week! Amber said, ‘I have Onstar – I can call and get a tow – they can change the tire for us – probably won’t take an hour’….

Kayce smiled and said, ‘Damn, Amber – we’re close to your house – why don’t we just get out and run to your place, and you can call AAA in the morning – that would be quicker than sitting here waiting half the night.’

Amber only had to think for a minute…. before agreeing. They grabbed their purses, yanked off their shoes, and exited the car. Click click and Amber locked the doors, and the two of them took off running in the pouring rain.

The night was warm but the rain was torrential, and as they ran, both were laughing – the after effects of a few drinks and an evening of no worries. Shortly they saw the porch light at Amber’s house and they ran even harder, splashing through unseen puddles.

The reached the porch just as the bottom fell out and both were panting and laughing, soaked to the skin. Amber fumbled for her keys and opened the door while Kayce stood in the porch light, shaking her head and watching the water fly from her long, dark hair.

As soon as they entered the foyer, Amber turned to Kayce and said, ‘You might want to stay here tonight…. the weather really sucks and you have so far to drive, and you’ve had too many drinks to take a chance. The guest room is made and you’re more than welcome to stay – would be the safe thing to do.’

Kayce thought for a minute and then thanked Amber for the offer, and agreed to stay.

Amber smiled and said, ‘I could really use a cup of coffee to warm up – would you like one?’

Kayce smiled and nodded, ‘that would be great! Where are the towels and I‘ll get us one.’

Amber pointed to the powder room by the stairs….. ‘There, the door on the left – under the sink’ and she walked into the bar to make coffee.

A minute later, the coffee was brewing when Kayce walked in carrying two large Turkish towels. Both girls were shivering, and Kayce handed Amber a towel and turned around and wriggled out of her soaked T-shirt. Amber was shocked to see that Kayce wasn’t wearing a bra! Inhaling sharply, she was frozen, staring at Kayce…. and as Kayce turned and their eyes met, Amber felt her face flush, still unable to tear her eyes away from Kayce’s beautiful, full breasts, glistening from the rain.

Kayce was immobile, watching Amber gazing at her, and immediately her nipples became diamonds… Kayce smiled, staring into Amber’s eyes, and watching her face redden. And then slowly Amber slid her hands up her sides, gripped the dripping hem of her own T-shirt, and slowly lifted it over her head. When Amber unfastened her bra and peeled it off, it was Kayce’s turn to gasp…. Amber’s breasts were exposed, the large areolas a warm brown in the dim light, and the nipples rigid and swollen, like beacons calling lost souls home. They stood looking at each other, neither able to move…
